Domperidone belongs to a group of medicine called dopamine antagonists which is used to treat nausea (feeling sick) and vomiting (being sick) in adults and adolescents (12 years of age and older and weighing 35 kg or more.
- Allergic (hypersensitive) to domperidone or any of the other ingredients in the tablets
- Have black, tarry bowel motions (stools) or notice blood in your bowel motions
- Have a blockage or tear in your intestines
- Have a tumour of the pituitary gland called a prolactinoma
- Have a disorder known as phenylketonuria
- Have a moderate or severe liver disease
- Your ECG (electrocardiogram) shows a heart problem called "prolonged QT corrected interval"
- Have or had condition called heart failure
- Have a problem that gives you a low level of potassium or magnesium, or high level of potassium in your blood
- Suffer from kidney problems
- If you are pregnant or planning to have a baby, it is best to ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
- This medicine is not recommended if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed as small amount of this medicine have been detected in breast milk. Ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
- This medicine is not recommended for children under 12 years and children weighing less than 35 kg
- If you are over 60 years the risk of heart rhythm disorder and cardiac arrest is high
- This medicine ma make you feel sleepy, confused or have less control over your movements. If this happens do not drive or operate any machinery
Please inform your doctor in case you are taking any of the following medicines:
- Ketoconazole, Fluconazole or Voriconazole
- Erythromycin, Clarithromycin, Telithromycin, Moxifloxacin, Pentamidine
- Amiodarone, Dronedarone, Quinidine, Disopyramide, Dofetilide, Sotalol, Diltiazem, Verapamil
- Haloperidol, Pimozide, Sertindole
- Citalopram, Escitalopram
- Cisapride, Dolasetron, Prucalopride
- Mequitazine, Mizolastine
- Halofantrine
- Protease inhibitors
- Telaprevir
- Toremifene, Vandetanib, Vincamine
- Bepridil, Diphemanil, Methadone
- Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
- The tablets must be swallowed with a glass of water
- Take the tablets 15 to 30 minutes before meals and, if needed, before you go to bed
- Do not crush or chew them
If you forget to take this medicine:
- If you miss a dose, take your medicine as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, wait until that is due and continue as usual
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose
- Loss of libido, Anxiety
- Somnolence, Headache
- Diarrhoea
- Rash, Pruritus
- Galactorrhoea, Breast pain, Breast tenderness
- Asthenia
- Keep out of the reach and sight of children
- Do not store above 25°C
- Store in the original package
- Do not use the tablets after the expiry date
