Amisulpride belongs to a group of medicines called antipsychotics which help to control the symptoms of a mental illness called schizophrenia.
It is used to treat:
- Acute and Chronic Schizophrenic Disorders
- Allergy to amisulpride or any of the other ingredients in this medicine
- History of kidney problems
- Parkinson’s disease
- Previous episode of epileptic seizures
- Diabetic patient or have been told you have an increased risk of developing diabetes
- Heart disease or family history of heart problems
- You or someone else in your family has a history of blood clots
- You or someone else in your family has a history of breast cancer
- Have a low amount of potassium or magnesium in your blood
- Ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine in case you are pregnant or plan to be pregnant
- Do not take this medicine if you are breast-feeding or planning to breastfeed
- Not recommended for children under 15 years of age
- Elderly people are more likely to get low blood pressure or feel sleepy
- Do not drink alcohol while you are taking this medicine as it can increase the effects of alcohol
- You may feel less alert, drowsy, sleepy and have blurred vision while taking this medicine. If this happens, do not drive or use any tools or machines
Please inform your doctor in case you are taking any of the following medicines:
- Bromocriptine, Ropinirole, Levodopa
- Quinidine, Disopyramide, Procainamide, Amiodarone, Sotalol
- Cisapride, Bepridil
- Sultopride, Thioridazine
- Methadone
- Halofantrine
- Pentamidine
- Erythromycin by injection or Sparfloxacin
- Clotrimazole
- Vincamine by injection
- Take this tablet exactly as your doctor tells you to take it
- Your doctor will tell you how much of this medicine to take and when to take it
- Do not take more than your doctor has recommended
- Swallow the medicine with a glass of water
If you forget to take this medicine:
- If you miss a dose, take the next dose as usual - do not double the dose
If you stop taking this medicine:
- Do not stop taking the medicine without talking to your doctor
- Tremor, Rigidity, Hypokinesia, Hypersalivation, Akathisia, Dyskinesia
- Galactorrhoea, Amenorrhoea or Menstrual Disorders, Gynaecomastia, Breast Pain or Enlargement, Erectile Dysfunction
- Insomnia, Anxiety, Agitation, Orgasmic Dysfunction
- Acute Dystonia, Somnolence
- Blurred Vision
- QT Interval Prolongation
- Hypotension
- Constipation, Nausea, Vomiting, Dry Mouth
- Weight Gain
- Leukopenia, Neutropenia , Agranulocytosis
- Allergic Reactions
- Hyperglycaemia , Hypertriglyceridaemia, Hypercholesterolaemia
- Confuson
- Tardive Dyskinesia, Seizures
- Bradycardia
- Increase in Blood Pressure
- Nasal Congestion, Aspiration Pneumonia
- Osteopenia , Osteoporosis
- Urinary Retention
- Elevation of Hepatic Enzymes
- Agranulocytosis
- Benign Pituitary Tumour (Prolactinoma)
- Hyponatraemia
- Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome
- Ventricular Arrhythmias, Ventricular Tachycardia (Ventricular Fibrillation, Cardiac Arrest, Sudden Death)
- Venous Thromboembolism
- Angioedema, Urticaria
- Store at room temperature (15 to 25ºC)
- Keep it out of reach of children
- Do not use after expiry date
