Pregabalin is an anti-epileptic drug, also called an anticonvulsant. It works by slowing down impulses in the brain that cause seizures
It is used to treat:
- Pain caused by nerve damage due to diabetes, shingles (herpes zoster) infection, or spinal cord injury.
- Pain in people with fibromyalgia.
- Allergy to pregabalin or any of the other ingredients in this medicine
- Had a history of heart disease
- Have a history of alcoholism and drug abuse
- This medicine is not recommeded in case you are pregnant or plan to be pregnant. Ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
- The medicine is not recommeded if you are breast-feeding or planning to breastfeed. Ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
- Not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years
- Not recommended if you have problems with your kidneys
- Not recommended to drink alcohol while taking this medicine
- Should not drive, operate complex machinery or engage in other potentially hazardous activities if this medicine affects your ability to perform these activities
Please inform your doctor in case you are taking any of the following medicines:
- Orlistat (Obesity)
- Codeine, Hydrocodone (Cough Relievers)
- Alprazolam, Lorazepam, Zolpidem (Sleep or Anxiety)
- Carisoprodol, Cyclobenzaprine (Muscle Relaxants)
- Cetirizine, diphenhydramine (Antihistamines)
- Take this tablet exactly as your doctor tells you to take it
- Your doctor will tell you how much of this medicine to take and when to take it
- Do not take more than your doctor has recommended
If you forget to take this medicine:
- If you forget to take the medicine, take it as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose
- Do not take two doses at the same time
If you stop taking this medicine:
- Do not stop taking the medicine without talking to your doctor
