Entecavir is an antiviral that belongs to a class of drugs known as hepatitis B virus nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors which which is used to treat chronic hepatitis B virus infection in adults by decreasing the amount of hepatitis B virus in your body.
It is uesd to treat:
- Chronic hepatitis B virus infection
- Allergic to entecavir or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
- Have ever had kidney problem
- Are infected with HIV
- Have previously received treatment for chronic hepatitis B
- Are lactose intolerant
- This medicine is not recommended if you are pregnant or planning to have a baby. Ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
- This medicine is not recommended if you are breastfeeding or planning to breast feed. Ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
- This medicine is not recommended for children below 2 years or weighing less than 10 kg
- This medicines may make you feel dizzy, tired and sleepy. If this happens, do not drive or operate any machines
- Please inform your doctor in case you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines
- Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
If you forget to take this medicine:
- If you forget to take this medicine, take it as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose
- Do not take two doses at the same time
If you stop taking this medicine:
- Do not stop taking this medicine before consulting your doctor
- Insomnia
- Headache, Dizziness, Somnolence
- Vomiting, Diarrhoea, Nausea, Dyspepsia
- Increased transaminases
- Fatigue
- Store at room temperature (15-25ºC)
- Keep this medicine out of reach of children
- Do not use after expiry date
