Tadalafil belongs to a group of medicines called phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors which is used to treat male sexual function problems. It works by relaxing muscles of the blood vessels and increasing the blood flow to particular areas of the body.
It is used to treat:
- Erectile dysfunction in adult men
- Pulmonary arterial hypertension in adults
- Allergic to tadalafil or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
- Have serious heart disease or recently had a heart attack within the last 90 days
- Have recently had a stroke within the last 6 months
- Have low blood pressure or uncontrolled high blood pressure
- Ever had loss of vision because of non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy, a condition described as “stroke of the eye”
- Any heart problems other than your pulmonary hypertension
- Have problems with your blood pressure
- Suffer from any hereditary eye disease
- Have sickle cell anaemia
- Have multiple myeloma
- Suffer from Leukaemia
- Have any deformation of your penis
- Have a serious liver problem
- Have a severe kidney problem
- Have had pelvic surgery
- Have had removal of all or part of the prostate gland in which nerves of the prostate are cut
- This medicine is not to be used by women
- This medicine is not recommended for children and adolescents under the age of 18
- Alcohol is not recommended while taking this medicine as it may affect your ability to get an erection and may temporarily lower your blood pressure
- This medicine may make you feel dizzy. If this happens, do not drive or operate any machinery
Please inform your doctor in case you are taking any of the following medicines:
- Bosentan
- Nitrates
- An alpha blocker
- Other medicines to treat high blood pressure
- Riociguat
- 5- alpha reductase inhibitor
- Ketoconazole
- Phenobarbital, Phenytoin and Carbamazepine
- Rifampicin, Erythromycin , Clarithromycin or Itraconazole
- Other treatments for erectile dysfunction
- Take this medicine exactly as your healthcare provider tells you
- Take this medicine at the same time every day
If you forget to take this medicine:
- If you forgot to take a dose of this medicine, take the forgotten dose as soon as possible. Then take the next dose at the correct time. However, if it is almost time to take the next dose, do not take the dose you have missed; just take the next dose as normal
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose
If you stop taking this medicine:
- Do not change your dose or stop taking this medicine without speaking to your healthcare provider
- Headache
- Flushing
- Nasal congestion
- Dyspepsia
- Back pain, Myalgia, Pain in extremity
- Hypersensitivity reactions
- Dizziness
- Blurred vision, Sensations described as eye pain
- Tinnitus
- Tachycardia, Palpitations
- Hypotension, Hypertension
- Dyspnoea, Epistaxis
- Abdominal pain, Vomiting, Nausea, Gastro-oesophageal reflux
- Rash
- Haematuria
- Prolonged erections
- Chest pain, Peripheral oedema, Fatigue
- Angioedema
- Stroke (including haemorrhagic events), Syncope, Transient ischaemic attacks, Migraine, Seizures, Transient amnesia
- Visual field defect, Swelling of eyelids, Conjunctival hyperaemia, Non-arteritic anterior ischaemic optic neuropathy (NAION), Retinal vascular occlusion
- Sudden hearing loss
- Myocardial infarction, Unstable angina pectoris, Ventricular arrhythmia
- Urticaria, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, Exfoliative dermatitis, Hyperhydrosis
- Priapism, Penile haemorrhage, Haematospermia
- Facial oedema, Sudden cardiac death
- Store at temperature between (15-25°C)
- Keep this medicine out of the reach of children
