Amlodipine belongs to a class of drugs known as calcium channel blockers. Amlodipine relaxes your blood vessels, which lets your blood flow more easily and helps lower your blood pressure.

It is used to treat:

High Blood Pressure
Angina (Chest Pain)

Allergy to amlodipine besylate or any of the other ingredients in this medicine
Have heart failure or have suffered a heart attack during the past month
Have severe low blood pressure
Severe increase in blood pressure (Hypertensive crisis)
Have liver problems

Ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine in case you are pregnant or plan to be pregnant
Ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine if you are breast-feeding or planning to breastfeed

Ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine in case the child is under 18 years

For elderly patients, doctor may need to monitor more closely

Taking the medicine may make you feel sick, dizzy or tired, or give you a headache. If this happens do not drive or use machines

Please inform your doctor in case you are taking any of the following medicines:

Dantrolene
Diltiazem
Idelalisib
Ivacaftor
Nefazodone
Simvastatin

Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
Take this medicine by mouth
This medicine can be taken with a whole glass of water

If you forget to take this medicine:

If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is time for your next dose
Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose

If you stop taking the medicine:

Do not stop taking the medicine without talking to your doctor

Visual disturbance (Including Diplopia)
Palpitations
Flushing
Dyspnoea
Abdominal pain, Nausea, Dyspepsia, Altered bowel habits (including diarrhoea and Constipation)
Ankle swelling, Muscle cramps
Fatigue, Asthenia

Depression, Mood changes (including anxiety), Insomnia
Tremor, Dysgeusia, Syncope, Hypoaesthesia, Paraesthesia
Tinnitus
Arrhythmia (including bradycardia, ventricular tachycardia and atrial fibrillation)
Hypotension

Vomiting, Dry mouth
Alopecia, Purpura, Skin discolouration, Hyperhidrosis, Pruritus, Rash, Exanthema, Urticarial
Arthralgia, Myalgia, Back pain
Impotence, Gynaecomastia
Chest pain, Pain, Malaise
Weight increased, Weight decreased
Micturition disorder, Nocturia, increased urinary frequency

Confusion

Leukocytopenia, Thrombocytopenia
Allergic reactions
Hyperglycaemia
Hypertonia, Peripheral neuropathy
Myocardial infarction
Vasculitis
Pancreatitis, Gastritis, Gingival hyperplasia
Hepatitis, Jaundice, Hepatic enzyme increased
Angioedema, Erythema Multiforme, Exfoliative dermatitis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, Quincke oedema, Photosensitivity

Protect from excess heat and light
Store at room temperature (15-25ºC)
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date
