Alfuzosin Hydrochloreide Extended Release belongs to a group of medicines, called alpha-1- blockers. It works by relaxing the muscle tissue in the prostate and urethra, allowing urine to flow out of the bladder more easily.
It is used to improve:
- Urination in men with benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate)
- Allergy to alfuzosin hydochloride or any of the other ingredients in this medicine
- History of a drop in blood pressure when standing up
- History of liver problems
- Condition of the coronary arteries
- Symptoms of chest pain recur or worsen
- Impending eye surgery for cataract planned
- Continue to have a prolonged erection of the penis without being sexually aroused
- Not applicable as this medicine is only prescribed for males
- Not recommended for children and adoloscents
- Not recommended for use by elderly people above the age of 45
- You may feel dizzy and weak as drinking alcohol may increase the unpleasant effects of alfuzosin
Please inform your doctor in case you are taking any of the following medicines:
- Prazosin, Terazosin
- Sildenafil, Tadalafil
- Ketoconazole, Itraconazole, Boceprevir, Cobicistat, Clarithromycin, Nefazodone
- Lopinavir, Ritonavir, Ribociclib, Telaprevir, Telithromycin
- Take this tablet exactly as your doctor tells you to take it
- Your doctor will tell you how much of this medicine to take and when to take it
- Do not take more than your doctor has recommended
- Swallow the medicine with a glass of water
If you forget to take this medicine:
- If you miss a dose, take the next dose as usual - do not double the dose
If you stop taking this medicine:
- Do not stop taking the medicine without talking to your doctor
- Weakness, Malaise, Headache
- Nausea, Abdominal pain, Dry mouth
- Asthenia
- Drowsiness, Fainting, Vertigo/dizziness
- Abnormal vision
- Tachycardia, Palpitations, Syncope
- Hypotension (orthostatic), Flushing
- Rhinitis
- Diarrhoea
- Skin rashes, Pruritus
- Oedema, Chest pain
- Angioneurotic oedema
- Angina pectoris in patient with pre-coronary artery disorders
- Hepatotoxicity
- Urticaria, Angioneurotic oedema, Angio-oedema
- Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
- Do not use this medicine after the expiry date
- Do not store above 25°C.
- Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste
